Holland Village holds a very special place in my heart. It isn’t just a place on the map for me; it’s the backdrop of my life story.
It’s where my story began, from the day I was born, and where some of the most cherished moments of my childhood unfolded.
Back in its early years, Holland Village was a true “kampong” or village.
The place I called home, at Lorong Liput, was a communal-style zinc rooftop house that ten families shared. We shared not just a space but a life — a common kitchen, a single water point, a bathroom, and a bucket-system toilet. Despite the humble living conditions, we were more than neighbors; we were family, a close-knit, supportive community.
Unfortunately for our community, our home had to be demolished to make way for new HDB development in the 1970s.
As the years rolled by, progress knocked on our doors, and the cherished homes that held our memories had to make way for progress. The 1970s saw the rise of new HDB developments, forever changing the face of Holland Village. It was the beginning of decades of remarkable transformation of Holland Village and the surrounding Holland Road neighbourhood.
In 2005, after dedicating 23 meaningful years to serving as a church pastor, I pivoted into a new chapter of my life — the real estate industry. Naturally, Holland Village became my starting point, a place I was determined to connect with on a professional level.
My journey in real estate has been more than a career; it’s a passion deeply rooted in the soil of Holland Village. Serving a diverse clientele of residents and investors, I’ve not only facilitated property transactions but fostered genuine connections that transcend the realm of client relationships. Some have even evolved into cherished friendships, and the rekindling of ties with old neighbours warms my heart.
