Holland Village holds a very special place in my heart as it was the place of my growing up years from the time I was born. Some of my most beautiful childhood moments were forever etched in my memories.
In its earlier years, it was indeed a “kampong” (village).
My home at Lorong Liput, a cul-de-sac, was a communal-style zinc rooftop house with 10 families sharing a kitchen, water point, bathroom and bucket-style toilet. In spite of less than desirable living condition, it was a close-knitted community.
Unfortunately for our community, our home had to be demolished to make way for new HDB development in the 1970s.
Over the past many decades, I have witnessed with my own eyes the drastic transformation of Holland V and the Holland Road neighbourhood.
In 2005, when I entered the real estate industry after spending 23 years as a church pastor, naturally Holland Village was my launching pad.
